I’m Angelica, but you can call me Angel! I’m an aspiring UX / UI Designer currently living in New Zealand.
My design philosophy is informed by my values as a person. Many of those are centered around kindness and empathy. I also firmly believe in the power of research and data in order to better understand humans and design for scale and inclusion.
I also enjoy the challenge of front-end programming. I’m gritty, hardworking and continuously learning.
I started my career as a Journalist in the Philippines, covering natural disasters to corruption scandals.
A year into the job, I had a life-changing experience which led me to realize that it’s unfair to just take stories from people without helping to improve their lives.
I wanted to combine my passion for creativity, logical thinking and altruistic nature.
In 2018, I came across the concept of design thinking when I was listening to a Google TechTalks Podcast and that opened the doors of discovery to the world of UX / UI design and development.
I enjoy a sweaty power yoga session. I’m also into this little-known hobby called Freediving where you hold your breath for as long as you can and dive as deep as possible - yes, that’s me on the left. 75 feet under water.
I also appreciate sarcastic humor, conversing in GIFs and memes, munching on a bag of chips and lazy days at home reading psychology books.
